In France, where the editorial production is one of the most prolific in the world, the need highlight the specific French graphic, the beauty of our books and the strength of our designers is needed at a time when production is standardized and the market is becoming global. Because economic imperatives dictate their requirements and marketing, too often the quality and manufacture of plastic books are sidelined. Yet the layout, the choice of typography, paper and binding are not anecdotal stages of creative publishing and are very creative publishing. In 33 countries (Germany, Austria, Belarus, Bulgaria, China, Colombia, Croatia, Denmark, Egypt, Ecuador, Estonia, United States, Finland, Greece, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Norway, New Zealand, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Czech Republic, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland , Turkey, Venezuela), the most beautiful books are honored each year by price created for the sole purpose of distinguishing their quality, to crown the subject book, and to encourage the more interesting developments. It's the same reason that the association of Competition of the finest books French decided to organize the contest namesake.
Contest aims to reward each year the most beautiful books published during the previous year. It will highlight both traditional know-how that innovation, from the point of view of quality workmanship and quality graphics. The objective is to contribute to improving the physical quality of books to encourage publishers being bold and demanding in the manufacture of their books. The books will participate in the International Competition of the most beautiful books that take place every year in Leipzig. They will also be exhibited at fairs in Frankfurt and Leipzig in 2008.
