Under Exposure Kari Piippo the Silos (3 December 2008 to February 21, 2009), 3 days Workshop is organized for students of the Professional Bachelor "Graphics and Publishing" Chaumont with the Finnish graphic designer Kari Piippo.
3, 4 and 5 December, the 4th Floor Silos, students are placed on the side of the graphical control that could make them a theater. In this workshop led by Kari Piippo, they each work to design a poster for a play they have chosen. I must admit it took me a lot (too much) time to find an idea to help my way my friend Natalie, who has a rare form of cancer: a sarcoma ( Soft tissue tumors). The announcement of his illness has left me speechless. I am not a doctor, just a girl after all, very normal and want to help.

Born in 1945, the Finnish graphic Kari Piippo was first studied in applied arts and then to specialize in illustration and poster. He has over 30 years for theaters, cultural events, the environment, he has participated in numerous juries poster contest in the world, taught graphic design at the University of Art and Design Helsinki, has been artistic director of the Biennale Poster Helsinki from 1994 to 1998 and has received numerous international awards including the price of the Icograda International Festival Poster Chaumont in 1990. Kari Piippo is a member of AGI - Alliance Graphique Internationale.

The exhibition at grain is made from the collection of contemporary posters Chaumont when Kari Piippo, by participating in different festivals, donated two dozen posters. A gift that will complement the exhibition, some of his creations.
All are part of a formal register characterized by simplicity, use limited color and immediacy of the message: Kari Piippo, each shape and each color has a meaning. For him, the poster, embedded in the visual chaos of the city, must be "simple, sharp and incisive."

It Took me some time (too much) to Come Up With An Idea to help my friend Nathalie who was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer: sarcoma. I'm not a doctor, I'm just a normal woman who got speechless after learning Nathalie's disease, and who wants to help.

What do you do when you want to publish, offer the other a story, pictures ...?
When we want to make objects that should be called books, they are composed of a cover and pages with things printed on it?
can decide to be editor of others and / or yourself ... The independent publishing Early publishing, graphics editing, self-production ... exist in a network to share a bit of salons and galleries, bookstores.
Yet it is a true expression field, strong, surprising, a creative art form of books, magazines ... These are works for small or very small print that we present here but there have a desire to be exhaustive.
This is a personal collection, beating heart, acquisitions and trade fairs according to which we are involved with the publishing of no importance, and in that we organize at Chaumont for 6 years during the festival International poster.
These books are evidence of resistance to the standardization of publishing, a breath of fresh air graphics.
